Allan W Smith (Band Leader) From Kirkfieldbank near Lanark. Began his musical career at the age of 9 years, a product of the Jean Brown School of Music in Wishaw, Lanarkshire.  He has always had a strong love of Scottish traditional music and has been influenced by great bands such as Ian Powrie. Lindsay Ross, Max Houliston, Jim Johnstone and Iain MacPhail. Travelling abroad, he has played in countries from the Middle East to Africa and most of Europe.  Allan plays Bugari and Hohner accordions and has worked with many top bands including The Kelvin Ceilidh Band for many years. On the bands recent CD, Light Reflections, as well as sharing the arrangements and content with Dorothy, Allan has included 7 of his own compositions previously unrecorded. |
